Hints and tips that some may not have heard of. #34: I Can See You…

Boys and Girls,

I think this is obvious enough not to need one of my 400 page novels.
I was inspired to publish this hint because of this happy snap in one of the recent LJ projects.
I believe maj did a write up on something similar at LJ (so don't go looking for it here), but I wasn’t prepared to wade through 469 of his projects just for a link.

Mine is monoplanar
and I don’t get dizzy looking for that elusive screw… oh, oh...,

I can foresee a moon-slap from SWMBO coming up.

Have to admit I tend to forget about these few,
and continually top up the bottles with newly purchased sames... that's why so many brass screws.

Could be a good start for any newbie woodworker setting up before he/she decide to get adventurous with the carousel version or any veteran with just enough shelf clearance for the jars and a hand to reach… could even get fancy and mount on a pull out shelf (mounted to the bottom of a shelf).

One benefit is to use up all those spice jars (that usually still come in glass) for your various small singular hardware (screws as opposed to nuts and their matching bolts/washers) and leave your hidden/sealed drawers and boxes for those rare accessories you often nearly always forget to use.

It’s much easier to take a jar to the job,
rather than empty the storage,
and haul around a tray,
with 95% redundant parts.

Sorry about the banality of this post, but I had to fill in time while preparing another hint... just as banal, but much more verbose and video accompanied.

If your first cut is too short... Take the second cut from the longer end... LBD

Given the amount of time I spend looking for the right piece of hardware, I do applaud the organization!
my grandpa used to use jars like that for screws.

working with my hands is a joy,it gives me a sense of fulfillment, somthing so many seek and so few find.-SAM MALOOF.

Dad used the same concept, us kids eventually broke all the jars.
WOW...and I thought I had a lot of screws. You are stocked better than some hardware stores! I like the "visual shop" where you can see what you have, too!!!!!!!!!

Us oldies have the smarts... you "younguns" probably go for the individual baggies ones,

to avoid cross contamination  and global warming,

.... eventually broke all the jars.

That's why I wear thongs in the workshop and not go barefoot.

Plastic bottles were a go at one stage, however, quickly learnt not to use them as tambourines... the screws scuffed the jars up so I couldn't identify the contents... and let's not mention the greenies.

I go out of my way for another screw.

Nicely done Alex.
I’ve had two rows of two jars in the old shed for many years, works great.
Like your others parts boxes storage shelves 👍

My stockpile phobia goes back to the 1970's when I used to try some pretend "handyman work" trying to impress my new FIL.

I could only work on his projects on the weekend when we didn't have weekend shopping.  Having to wait till Monday till I could purchase the required hardware (wasting the rest of the weekend) and not being able to use till the following weekend, I quickly started to stockpile consumables.
I have carried that trait forward since... If I live long enough, I'll eventually use them up and if I don't, I wont give a shit.

Far too many people manage to compromise with the wrong hardware and waste countless hours on a workaround that looks like crap.

Not if I don't breathe...  I presume you're not referring to the nightie.

Oh my!  full stop.

LBD, looks like you either have a low object in your shop that is continually colliding with your shins or, putting pink boots on is more harmful to a person's legs than I would have thought.

Don't whipper snip in thongs... and I don't mean the Borat type.

I have some leather spats... no, not the,

but,

Unfortunately the gut makes it uncomfortable to bend over and put them on, in my seldom sober moments.

And another one bites the dust

What happened to Kiwi shoe polish?
History of Kiwi boot polish

Sara Lee Corporation acquired the company in 1984, and then in 2011, it was sold to SC Johnson. Reports state that the present owners intend to concentrate on the company's assortment of other items.
Sara bloody Lee they make cheese cakes do they not. No wonder they sold it off.
Almost as silly as Boeing buying a submarine contract from Rockwell!

It not too bloody smart I tell you no where near the shine I used it get from KIWI!

Plus no matter how hard I looked I couldn't find any pink ...boo hiss

That's why the boots are locked up tight...

Next will be to preserve them in formaldehyde

Sara-Lee bought the brand name, not the product. What do you think SL did with the extra frosting that needed up a tad too tough for topping cakes?
