Retired, ex mainframe systems programmer. Now full-time recreational woodworker majoring in puzzles, pens, boxes, T&J Toys and occasional small furniture.
Design everything (and I mean everything) in SketchUp prior to touching tools. I am fortunate to have the use of a laser and I like to laser cut pieces in MDF to use as either layout patterns (3mm MDF) or routing templates (6mm MDF). For small intricate parts I occasionally laser cut, however, removing the burn marks is more a hassle than hand cutting.
I'm a real gadgets man and squander many a $ on new innovations and handy tool supplements. I also like to make jigs and design my own gadgets and while at times a purchased jig may be cheaper than a shop made one sometimes they may be improved for personal use. I often use 3D printed parts designed in SketchUp to supplement my wooden jigs in creating wood pieces for models.
But most of all I love a glass or two of red... that's a lie.. a bottle or two.. another lie.. I buy casks... actually I tried to buy a pub but I got prematurely retrenched, so I left the big smoke (Richmond, 3 km from Melbourne CBD) and practiced intimidation of the folks in Churchill (160K ESE from Richmond)...

PS. Have had no formal woodwork training, however, if you see some of the tools I use it'll become obvious that without those I could never even cast a shadow (and it's a large(ish) shadow) on competent woodies.
James McIntyre commented about 4 hours ago new If you mention the word woke to a woke person and they get uppity their probably WOKE and a Climatarian or a Sustarinatarian or Reducetarian…….
I am pissed off with the direction those WOKE people are trying to steer this world towards... They object to our (my) views yet insist I comply with their views.

They are such a small part of the population but have a lot of influence. They embedded themselves into education brainwashing our kids now their on the boards of large corporations telling the CEO’s what to invest in. Their also politicians. They are in my opinion the biggest threat to democracy. They are socialist.
They're everywhere, but I can, at least try to, leave well enough alone, but when they conspire to change my life to theirs, I draw the line, however, it looks like that's the way this world is heading.
What really pisses me off is that whatever one wants, his other "brother" (or whatever the hell he/se/it wants to be called now) differs.

Super work! And yep, sketchup is a bugger for some things. But it’s obvious you conquered its stubbornness. I really like the rubber band “clip”. Merry Christmas!!!!
