My stockpile phobia goes back to the 1970's when I used to try some pretend "handyman work" trying to impress my new FIL.
I could only work on his projects on the weekend when we didn't have weekend shopping. Having to wait till Monday till I could purchase the required hardware (wasting the rest of the weekend) and not being able to use till the following weekend, I quickly started to stockpile consumables.
I have carried that trait forward since... If I live long enough, I'll eventually use them up and if I don't, I wont give a shit.
Far too many people manage to compromise with the wrong hardware and waste countless hours on a workaround that looks like crap.
