Nice detail work on the lipstick Mike, especially the end grain profile on the chops, where I always experience tear out on exit side with the moulding plane.
Cheers Tom - I normally stick a sacrificial piece there, cross orientated (So the sacrificial piece is planing with the grain). But in this case I didn't want a crisp end profile so I knocked a bevel into it before cutting the profile instead (Then beveled the other end after the cut so they matched).
I need to get better at doing that Mike. I usually end up knocking a bevel in the end I’m planing towards, if I remember before I blow it out. Makes for a much better end product to use a sacrificial piece…I just never seem to do it. My hand tool game is pretty weak, I’ll admit…
