My friend that owns a glass company is building an in home office that is going to have glass walls and doors. He asked me to make them handles for the glass doors. He gave me the hardware which came pre mounted on 3/4 x 3/4 handles. All he told me was that the handles needed to be attached 16" on center.
Here is a pic of the hardware:

The new handles will be 1 1/4 x 1 1/4 x 22 1/2
Since the hardware is made to slide over 3/4" material, I have to figure a way to make it work.
I decided to cut them in but didn't want the cuts showing in the front. So I will create a little pocket.
So what I decided was to make it in 2 pieces, the back piece will be 3/4 x 1 1/4 and after I cut in for the hardware I will add a 1/2 x 1 1/4 to the back piece.
Pictures should explain it.

I notched both sides of the back piece,  then tilted the saw at 45 deg to bevel the edges of the cut out.

Here is the back piece with the notches cut and the sides 45'd

Here it is showing it with the hardware.

Next is to glue on the front piece:

After gluing, I cleaned them up on the wide belt sander.

Next step was to taper the top and bottoms, I screwed a jig to my radial arm saw to make the cuts.

Then did the final sanding and a small 1/8" round over on the edges and I hand beveled the very top and bottom.

Here they are after 2 coats of pre-cat sprayed and hardware mounted.

Side by side with the original handles I'm replacing.

Thanks for looking!

Those are sweet, would work on other types of doors also. Great Job.

Main Street to the Mountains

Pretty cool

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

Made them with your eyes closed and one hand tied behind your back?
Thanks you guys,

They look that bad?  lol

I used both hands,  even though the arthritis in my thumbs are killing me.  I may have closed one eye a time or two while lining things up..

Haha no they don’t look bad. Used to seeing your large built ins or big cabinets
Monday I will start installing a white gloss high end kitchen, as they say.  I haven't seen it yet.

The water damaged Wall Unit and Bar that I bid in Late December is supposed to start after that, (Tuesday) The company has told me that the check is being cut,  so if that happens it will be the next (big for me) project for me to post.
