Soon to be 79, a widow living in Montana where my heart is. I have always loved "wood". I started building a few things, simple things like bookshelves in 1980. Fast forward to about 1985 when I started collecting wood tools and became fascinated with the scroll saw. Adult night classes in woodworking taught me tool safety, joinery, etc., etc. I kept asking the instructor to teach me how to use the saw and he kept putting me off. I look back now and think - he probably didn't know how to use one.
Now, my heart and passion is into detailed scroll sawing and on maple burl slabs. I have my own "she shed" which is full of woodworking tools and sawdust. Not much domestic in there. Once upon a time, I had an old-timer teach me how to use the lathe, and I still have it but the scroll saw keeps calling my name to the corner where both of my saws are. I started with a Delta 16" and when the burl slabs came about, I bought a 30" Excalibur (go big or go home, I guess), then updated to a new 30" Excalibur, which I still have and a few years ago, I bought a Seyco from Seyco in Texas because the parts were starting to get hard to find for the Excalibur.

A little trouble navigating the website to sign up.  I think it is done now.  Trying to zero in on scrollsaw workers and Charles Deering projects.

How will I know that I have been approved?  I don't see any conversation along those lines

Welcome Montana...

I also have an Excalibur (littler one)... I'm just a hack scroller... don't do much and only use it for tight curves that my mitre saw (Kapex) cannot do... but having tried to do a 90° turns on the scroll without breaking a blade, I appreciate the skill you guys have.

PS. That's not sawdust on the saw... probably accumulated unhatched spiders' eggs.

If your first cut is too short... Take the second cut from the longer end... LBD

Jane Hiatt
