This is part 5 in a 5 part series: CNNP Sheoak Coasters

  1. CNNP Sheoak Coasters second
...
  1. my attempt to be a "shipwright"
  2. CNNP Coaster meet the CBHS Table

OK after making template to use for inserting the She-Oak into the table top I removed the clamps and continued.

I used a stand off and planer bit to get the insert close to the table top

All went well and I was surprised to see more burning occuring.

Next tool was my ROS.
I then considered filling with timber Mate but kind of thought I would surprise myself with a trick I had up my sleeve.
Now considering they are only short sleeves don't expect too much
with a 3.2mm router bit I ran around the outside to even up the gaps instead of just filling them.

then wait for it ...filled them!

left it to dry overnight and hit it with the ROS again next morning.

I was liking what I saw so I repeated it another two times.

hey it worked no broken legs so another go was attempted.

getting some comfortable results here.

glued then in and left them to dry overnight

I am kinda enjoying this! Just wait for my next short sleeve tricks!

Toothpaste as filler?

Ok, still looks good!

Are you intending to leave that table in the same spot? Will be interesting to see how it all ages together 👍

I am impressed!

If your first cut is too short... Take the second cut from the longer end... LBD

splint it's an old aussie technique. brush your teeth or fill some wood ! the beauty is when it hardens it gets rid of the gaps in your teeth. no more flossing 😁😉

AH!

Round these parts we would just use a day old wad of chaw.

So you don't swallow?

Who said we don't swallow?

Somehow the digestive tract just ignores the chaw and, well, you can figure the rest out.
🤢🤮

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

Some replies :-
Pottz:- Thanks and I guess you are aware over brushing causes bleeding gums and the tooth paste may turn red.
SplinterGroup:-   Chaw  ... sorry I have never heard of it,  and yes it will return to its outside location to monitor how long it lasts, hopefully longer than I keep my tools!
LittleBlackDuck:- Thanks its usually hard to impress anybody these days you will like my next post.
Steve Rasmussen:- Thanks nice to see somebody else appreciates the amount of work required.
