Cat Climbing Structure #11: How do you gift-wrap a cat tree?

This is part 11 in a 11 part series: Cat Climbing Structure

  1. Introduction
...
  1. Climbing/Nesting Modules
  2. How do you gift-wrap a cat tree?

It turns out that two bicycle gift bags will work.  Tell me this doesn't look like a giant headless matron in an evening gown.  A masterful deception I think.

Our Christmas was delayed a few days until one family member was back home, which gave me some extra time to work on the project.  I didn't quite get everything done, but enough that I could assemble it and have it ready for the celebration.   I'm happy to say it was a big hit.  In the next week I'll tie-up the loose ends and get it re-assembled in the family room.  For now, here are a few photos of the substantially complete structure.

Super cool, Ross! It looks even better with the lights refracting through, and reflecting off, the glass/plastic hemispheres.

You went above and beyond with finding a way to wrap it.

What do the cats think of it?
that came out incredible ross. but not being a cat guy, what are the plastic domes for ?

working with my hands is a joy,it gives me a sense of fulfillment, somthing so many seek and so few find.-SAM MALOOF.

Awesome Ross!

I like the supports that tie it into the floor and ceiling. Can't count the number of times our trees fell over when the beasts got a bit crazy. Also great for making it have a smaller foot print.

Pottz, our formerly adopted cat (now with the adopter) would use the bowls for horking (and the rest of the tree).

I imagine Ross's bowls will, if anything, fill with hair.
sounds great splint ? i stay with dogs myself. if you wanna talk about hair every where ! get a beagle ! 🤣🐶🐶🐶

Agreed, I'm very pro dog (never had a cat), but at the time the kid rescued two cats and I was compelled to house them. Great thing was when the kid moved out, he was compelled to take them with him 😀

We have 4 dogs (2 outside, 2 inside). The insiders are Poodles which don't shed. I've always had "big" dogs, but the Poods are actually great dogs and act like "real" dogs.
That's a first class cat structure for sure! Wonderful details.
That looks great Ross, I bet the cats will love it.

Thanks for the kind words, guys.  The cats had a brief introduction to it, but seemed disinterested.  I didn't encourage any climbing yet since I want to get some poly on modules first.  Although, it may be more true to its purpose if there were some cat hairs embedded in the finish.

pottz - cats apparently like sleeping in those half-spheres.

hmmmmm. i wonder if the beagle would go for it ?

Looks great Ross and I knew that would be the use of the hemispheres. 😁
If they are being little a**holes about it as cats so often are, sprinkle a little catnip on it.
That should get their interest.

The early bird gets the worm but its the second mouse that gets the cheese.

Appreciate how you took inspiration from Franco Albini and made it into a modular cat tree. Elegant, innovative and nerdy-in-a-good-way, love it!
