Craftisian Labs #5: Member Spotlight, Sticky Comments Header, Forum Categories

This is part 5 in a 10 part series: Craftisian Labs

We are reintroducing Member Spotlight - now with a cool Roll the Dice feature. Each day a new member (with at least 7 projects posted) is randomly selected and featured on the home page for 24 hours. This is a great way to get some recognition and for others to discover new great members by hitting the Roll the Dice, which refreshes the member spotlight with another member from the featured members archives.

The next feature might seem minor at first glance but it shows how we keep perfecting the details together. Before, when you scrolled through the comments, there was no way to easily see if you follow the comments or not - and to toggle this following. The comments header was just scrolled away. Now, the comments header sticks to the top of the page as you keep reading the comments so you can check the amount of comments and the status of your comment following easily - and change it without having to scroll up again. So cool!

On the other hand, the next update has been immediately noticeable. Instead of a single forum for each craft, Craftisian now has multiple forums that add another layer of organisation for the forum topics:

When posting a new forum topic, first you have to select one or more crafts related to your topic (this determines in which Craft Section your topic will end up being shown). Then you must choose a definite category to which your topic will belong:

Any feedback is appreciated as always. Enjoy!

Nice touch Martin!

The early bird gets the worm but its the second mouse that gets the cheese.

Roll the Dice, is a great feature. Get to see many more projects that have been posted. The forum being split will be a nice feature to identify new forums and searching for something in particular. I'll have to get more into the forums. Thanks Martin.

.... And the roll the dice - well, that  is fun...

👍for 2 reasons:
  1. Cool Feature.
  2. Excuse to post another puzzle project,

If your first cut is too short... Take the second cut from the longer end... LBD

Thanks LBD, Puzzle's are great this time of the year.

Thanks Martin! Great job!

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

Thanks Martin,  I (we) appreciate all the improvements and hard work you're putting into this site.
Heading for greatness..

Figuring out how to do something you have never done is what makes a good challenge.

Great feature Martin... If you ever decide to accentuate/redesign/enhance Reviews... that would be the ideal feature.

Frightening how at times when I log in I think, I haven't seen that before... I quickly check the level of vino in my cask from the previous night.

Not a priority or a need,
but it would be nice if we could place a picture into the messages?

Thinking aloud is all.
I was asked how to navigate something and it would have been easier to explain if I could have showed them a pic.

+1 on the message photo's

On that note, would it be possible to link directly to a new message to send a reply? Just asking.

I know you defiantly have your hands full with the mass exodus going on here, and they are still coming. Hats off to you Martin for the work you have been putting into this forum. Thank You

If it is a tad difficult or down the line prioritity, if Martin sets up the "files" suppository oops repository (love the strike through) you could place the pictures and link to it.
