Very nice presentation and very nice columns. Birdsmouth joints are great fo4 this kind of thing as well as making lightweight hollow masts for sailboats.
The early bird gets the worm but its the second mouse that gets the cheese.

When I designed the job, I didn't think I was going to even get it.
Let alone had any idea how or where I would find columns like that.
I've always told everybody when they ask if I can make something....sure, no problem.
Then go home and scratch my head asking myself why the hell I just told them that. lol

Wow. I never would have thought of making a column this exact way. This is what makes this site so amazing. I thought I knew a lot about woodworking, but EVERY time I open a project I learn something new. I love to learn new ways of doing things. I was pretty much self taught so to see how others tackle tasks is amazing. I stopped and backed up the video on making those columns many times to grasp the "why did he do that". Then towards the end the router jig answered my final question. Nice work. Have you ever thought about doing this professionally? haha
ShipWright mentioned the birdsmouth for sailing mast, I have read a number of books about boat building and read that. But using the router I never thought of, was thinking a large bed lathe.
