If you DON’T misplace tools, I want to know your secret!

For us, no matter how many measuring tapes we have, we can never find one.

What’s your story?

*TONY ** Reinholds* ALWAYS REMEMBER TO HAVE FUN

I spent 10 minutes looking for my safety glasses. Tape measures and pencils are also on the list of "Where did I put that" items. I use them frequently and set them down while I'm thinking about something else.
Pencil.
All my working life it was right there behind my ear.
Then I got old and needed to wear glasses and it wouldn’t stay there.
Now I have several laying around but still often can’t find one when I want it.

The early bird gets the worm but its the second mouse that gets the cheese.

Pencils are at the top of the list. Then it's the steel rules even though I have one at the table saw and one on the bench, plus a few others.

Same as Eric but often it is the mind, why did I come in here or what was I going to get there.    Slow down and things seem to be where they should be.

Pencils and marking knife. They are always (supposed to be) in my apron and I still can't ever find them.

My solution to finding pencils was to make wall hung boxes and buy by the box, refill when needed.

Pencils and 6” stew rules.

I bought 100 mechanical penciled on eBay and have little tubs of them all over the shop. I bought a half dozen steel rules from Taylor Tools when they had a bunch of ‘seconds’ and spread those out all over.

I did such a good job spreading stuff out that I forget to even reach into my apron for either…and end up walking to the nearest repository to grab one, or both, while wearing my apron 🤦🏼‍♂️. Oh well, at least they’re nearby…

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

same as the rest so i have pencils, safety glasses and tape measure at each machine in my shop. but i still find myself looking for a tape ?

working with my hands is a joy,it gives me a sense of fulfillment, somthing so many seek and so few find.-SAM MALOOF.

I have shop GREMLINS. The thieving little t###s, that's the only answer I can come up with !!!!
I have shop gremlins too.  They bring me stuff from Mel´s shop all the time! :)

For me, it is mostly:  Wait!  Why did I come in here????

Maybe having these “zingers” hanging from the ceiling .. pull down the pencil, use it, and let it retract back up

🙄🤷🏻‍♀️

WildBrianWood - That's cold, but funny.  LOL
I've been missing both my utility knives for over a week now. I'm sure I'll find both once I buy another one.

Worst than misplacing,  "where did it go".
I'll be out installing and doing something on the ground (blanket).
Change bits in my drill,
go to change back, and the 1st one I was using is gone.  I haven't been anywhere.....
Where did it go???
I usually find it and realize I set it there so I wouldn't lose it...   lol

Glasses are the next,  I usually have them strapped around my neck when working,  but the straps don't last,
I need some better straps if anybody has a recommendation?

Figuring out how to do something you have never done is what makes a good challenge.

Change bits?
2 or 3 drills and or impacts solved that problem for me.
Good luck on your strap issue.
LOL,  That was just one example.
I set anything down besides me and it wonders off without me going anywhere.
Maybe if I had the strap-on glasses with a strap, I could find them easier......
(got plenty of drills,  I still change stuff a lot)

Bentlyj - 1/4-inch steel cable should work for your glasses.. LOL
