So, since I’m on shift today and away from home…what’s everyone’s menu for today??

Skipping the turkey and cooking a tenderloin -- well my BIL is cooking a tenderloin.

--Nathan, TX. Hire the lazy man. He may not do as much work but that's because he will find a better way.

Just the 2 of us here, so a Turkey Tenderloin with some of the fixings. Maybe tinker in the shop later.

My wife is making sides, the MIL is bringing a ham and my mom is bringing homemade sourdough rolls and fresh apple cake.  I’m fasting until dinner time :-)
Rad! Looks great.

Son and DIL is doing the feast.   First a few Tapas, boiled srimp, sausage, chips.  then the Turkey, stuffing (yuck) sweat potatoes with brown sugar coating, mashed potatoes, gravy,  rolls, etc.    Finish with wife's pumpkin pie and DIL's pecan pie.    Some leftovers come home with us.   All is great.
As a young kid my Aunt always had the "Big Spread" at her house.  Lots of relatives, friends coming and going.    Turkey, home made rolls, Ham, Quail (fresh from the morning hunt with Granddad), Chicken and noodles (home made noodles, my favorite) on and on and on.    Dining room table pushed against on wall, full of all the good stuff for everyone.    Uncle John had the bar set up in the kitchen.     Good memories.
Have a great one however you do it.    As an uncle use to say eat up and enjoy next year might be spam and soda crackers.

Traditional Family Dinner. Me the wife and my mom,  and my mom's adopted family of 6
Oven cooked Turkey, Ham, mashed cauliflower, sweet potatoes with marshmallows on top.
Green bean casserole, stuffin and fixins,  and of course pumpkin and apple pies.
And whatever guests bring.

Figuring out how to do something you have never done is what makes a good challenge.

Turkey, stuffing, green bean casserole, gravy, cranberry bread, cranberry sauce and deviled eggs on the menu for today.   We planned to go to daughters house and have dinner with their family and my son coming up from Texas.   However, daughter's family came down with colds and son and wife have the flu.

Will have lots of leftovers for the coming days.

Happy Thanksgiving to all here!!
My tongue and my lips are making babies…
Man that's looking good Ken,
Don't you think it will have that electric taste from cooking with those electrical probes?
You should move them to the other side so that it cooks the bird evenly...

To all the cooks out there, to all the home bakers, did you know that we have a sister site “Homesteadian.com” ?
A great place for sharing/teaching/learning about growing:cooking/preserving your own food!!

Hokie....what brand is the temp probes?  are they blue tooth to ur pbx?

Mike

I have this one Moke.  It has a wireless monitor which was good enough for me so I didn’t think Bluetooth was necessary.

I’m already rolling over the leftover bird :-)
That’s a pretty good price on that probe Ken. I put a BBQ Guru on my egg a bunch of years ago. A lot of $$, but it stokes the coal too, so it’s worth it in my mind, especially on long cooks…it’s almost like cheating it does such a good job with the temp holding!
