If you come near Casa Grande , Az and want some  Arizona wood for projects, stop in to Dead Tree Salvage saw mill and see John Goodwin.
He has mesquite, pecan, pistachio, olive, cottonwood, acacia and some others I have not bought from him. Most are natural edge and he will custom cut it for you from logs on his place. Call before you go as John is off buying and collecting wood from sources in the area or in California. He has kilns on the place and some of it will be kiln dried
Tell him I sent you!!!!
John's cell number is  520 560 0763   His address is 11930 W Martin Road  Casa Grande, Az  85194

working with my hands is a joy,it gives me a sense of fulfillment, somthing so many seek and so few find.-SAM MALOOF.

Wish we had a local wood provider that’s not a chain. I guess at least we’ve got chain stores, some don’t even have that!

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

Any idea if he has anything in play where he takes pics, and offers to ship the pieces? It's my favorite thing about CurlyMaplewood Kevin the owner sells a lot more wood now, doing it that way, and according to him also makes a LOT more $$$$$ doing it like that, over just offering the wood for sale, local only.

It gives people like myself a chance to buy spectacular pieces of Mesquite, where there is none local to me. I understand I am paying for premier wood, as well as a wood service, so I expect it's going to be more than at the regular Lumber places, but it's the wood legends are made of.

Not sure if your guy would want to do that?? Something you might pass along to him??

Conversely if he only offers so so  wood, then he wouldn't lure too many into premium prices, but if he selects out the awesome stuff this is a proven business model. Like Kevin says, if you are looking at a pic of his, that is the last piece of it available. Even when he has a whole tree of really great wood, he still takes pics of each piece, and they sell for what they sell for.
Hi George. I don't know if he ships any wood. You could call and ask. He does get some choice wood in with all the regular stuff that has cracks from being in the yard for years. He recently cut up some prime pistachio and sent me a pic on my phone.. Unfortunately I was back in Michigan by that time.
