Starting Over

It has been a long time...
Feeling good lately Health-wise, after a few bumps in the road
and Life has kept me very busy!
Experiencing a new-found sense of motivation,
something that has been lacking...

Re-finishing the front hallway of our House was begun in 2019!!
At a snail's pace, Paint-able conditions were finally reached in December of 2024...

and the walls were painted (Yellow) just before the New Year....

One of the many diversions from completing this
was an Idea of my Wife's (did I mention Debbie and I got Married?)

She had suggested moving my Wood Shop from the Cellar downstairs,
to up here in the House!
Once again, I played Musical Rooms, transferring our former Living Room stuff
into our Dining Room (which is actually the largest room in this old house)
and much of the downstairs shop into what was the Living Room...
That will save a lot of wear and tear on this old Man's knees,
but there are still machines downstairs... I left the real saw dust producing monsters
down where the vacuum is...

The carcass of the Old Bureau that was found last Winter
has become the new work table, until I can tidy it all up...

I've been itching to build a box of late, in the new shop location,
using some of the Wood from that very Bureau, except
I hadn't finished the hallway work,
and the crown molding from the hallway was obstructing shop use
laying across the length of the shop, waiting to be painted...
Finally, after 5 YEARS, the paint cans were opened,
and the Dark Gray trim work was accomplished...

With the hanging of the molding, the shop is freed and ready for use!

A Box was begun, starting with Oak sides (the back of that Bureau's single Drawer}...

Planing down the stock, for the top and bottom panels,
the Planer started giving  me a hard time
balking at being fed...
I turned the blades around for the first time since I bought the Dewalt
but decided to use the stock as-is, and just thin the edges down to the correct size

It always used to work, and works still...

Anyway, those were fitted into the sides,
a little tricky, because there was some cupping in the old wood...

And after a little detail work, we find ourselves here...

Forgive the length, Thanks for Reading if you stuck with it!
It is good to be out of the basement... :)
