Hints and tips that some may not have heard of. #42: Saving SWMBO's Knife Block

Boys and Girls,

How often have you heard that Honey please from SWMBO about replacing that worn out old knife block that was getting a tad tattered around the edges,

Well you should only ever do that once more and issue  a stern advice to  the household, if it’s not already practiced.

Start by making your new knife block…

and you don’t have to make it with a replaceable top/skin…

If your household doesn’t already practice it, strongly propose they put the knives in upside down… NO!, Not handle first but the back spine against the bottom of the slot’s opening.

The replacement cap is a nice way to satisfy the spousal unit and avoid the extra work 👍

Now your suggestion of sharp side up is perfectly logical, but that involves retraining the kitchen staff. Dunno about doing that extra work!

On analysis that sounds logical and people don't need diplomas, but it's incredible what percentage of this earth's kitchen staff will need retraining.

But blunting the knives is an extreme move!

You could've dipped those scissors in a tub of black.

Hey I reversed them as ordered!

would you believe I had an excess of scissors and bundled them all up and donated them to No 1 Sons kids.
while I was cutting up some sandpaper the handles broke and guess what the Gay purple ones were all I could find.
Replacements are on the Aldi shopping list now.
I wasn't game to stain the block and suffer the same effect as my OP tray.

I suppose they are a tad safer than swallowable batteries.

Multifunction scissors?

I suppose that means they can both cut and snip?

Yep... the local rabbi rents it often. Hell if we had 2 locally, I could supply both.

Sounds like a revenue machine!
Seems some enterprising youngster would offer up their Festool and get in on the action?
Oh you bragger!
