I'm a self taught woodworker. I took a year of wood shop in high school in the early 70s (I'm an old dog). My interest lay dormant until the mid 80s when we bought our first house and there was a lot of stuff we needed. We looked at furniture and I told my wife that "I can build that a lot better, cheaper, and it will last forever". Since then I've built most all of our desks, cabinets, dressers ... that we've needed. Now that our sons are grown I've started building things for a son and his family who live in the area.

My main interest is "Greene and Greene style furniture currently.

Since I've made most of the large furniture that we needed I thought making small items would be a nice change of pace. I searched what was offered by others on Etsy and saw that I could probably make pizza/bread paddles at a reasonable price. The boards and pizza peels are nice to look at, and even nicer to use. I also wanted to make something for children since I have a few grandkids of my own. I thought that wood coin bank would be fun to make and provide a fun way for kids to save their money. They were a hit with my grandchildren who've been the ultimate testers. They get active use and don't sit on the shelf much.

Projects: 2 queen beds, 4 twin beds, sewing cabinet, 4 dressers, 2 nightstands, 6 student desks, 2 coffee tables, 3 end tables, 2 built in bookshelves, entertainment center, 2 bathroom sink cabinets, a cubby, more bookcases and bread boards than you can shake a stick at, and I'm sure I've forgotten (and wanted to forget) some more.
