Riffler files?

Looking for some info and possibly recommendations. Riffler files: I’ve got a cheap set and I actually use them from time to time. I think I’d use them more if they performed a bit better as there is certainly a time and a place for them. So, my conundrum is….while I’d love to have a hand cut set, I just wouldn’t use them enough to warrant the cost, so what’s a reasonable set to buy from a value perspective? I’m leaning more towards a 7” set. What say ye’?

Not tried any really good ones - I got some Milani ones which were a hell of a lot better than the 8 for £10 set I had, they work well.
Although I will admit I also think those really cheap 4 in 1 rasps are really good, so take my advice with a grain of salt :)

Not sure if they ship over there, but the Italian ones seem to give better bang for the buck than the really good French ones (Ariou & Liogier)

These Teranti ones look Ok as well, although not tried them.

Thanks Mike. I have some good rasps and files, but I’m looking for riddlers for the shapes and curves. I’ll have a look at the ones you mentioned!

I only own mediocre ones.  I can’t bring myself to spend so much on good ones when I just don’t use them often.  I have a Corradi Sculptor’s file that is kind of a rasp on steroids and a Gramercy Handle Maker’s rasp that handles curves with elegance.

I have heard great things about Corradi Rifflers but the price for a full set requires a
spoonful of sugar.  If you only needed a couple, it’s manageable a la carte though.
All mine came from Grizzly. I don't see any more long files.

They are the only ones I have used.

My set looks identical to Hairy’s.
Yeah, I’m kinda finding the same thing. Not a lot of in-between on these. Hmm…

The Corradi are the “in between” 😉 Look up the Logier and Auriou’s.
Yeah, I know…umph…💰💰

I'm sorry, that's not what I meant.
What I did with files I now do with kutzall.

Ah, yes.

I have a few Corradi Italian ones that are great. The three or four Auriou ones I have are slightly better for what I do. I also have a set of Tell ones made in Switzerland that are very good quality.

Thanks for the info. Seems like the Corradi ones are the best value as a set…maybe…
