Tiny Vix bits?

I’m looking for a Vix bit for #0, #1, and #2 screws. The smallest SEVick seems to make is a #3 with a 5/64 bit, but I need something with a 3/64 bit. Or a 1/16 and wood glue to make the screws less sloppy.

I can make the pilot holes with an awl, then my pin vise with a 3/64 bit, but being even a 1/16 off-center kinda looks bad. And I’m working in maple at the moment, so I need to make pilot holes or risk snapping off screws.

Anyone know where I can find such a beast? McMaster-Carr only sells down to 5/64.

Thanks!

same here smallest ive seen is the #3

working with my hands is a joy,it gives me a sense of fulfillment, somthing so many seek and so few find.-SAM MALOOF.

I got mine at Lee Valley but same story 5/64 is the smallest.

What about a number index, I don't remember how small they make them, just know it's small. I have an index with fractions, alpha and numbers.

They're not Vix bits, but they are designed to center the bit, and the smaller bit is 3/64" (1.18mm).

Thanks, Rich! Those sleeves look like something I could make in the shop, even. I might have just found my next project!

Awesome, Dave!

I think I have just changed out the bit to a smaller one.  I know I have changed the bit so I can put in a Brusso hinge (their screws) which get stripped easy.

Petey

I tried changing out the bit, Petey. The 3/64 bits I have are too short, but worse, I can’t snug the set screw down enough to hold them reliably. It might hold a 1/16 bit, but it definitely won’t hold a 3/64.
