Carter Products Bandsaw Guide Ugrade

I have a SCM Mini Max S45 bandsaw that my dad bought new in 1989. Well the guides were in need of help. The first pic shows the Carter Products upgrade kit. Pic two is the original upper guides which were ok but not great. Pic three is the carter bearing guides. Pic four is the original lower guides that used cool blocks that were very worn in need of replacement. Pic five is a back bearing for the lower guides.  Well as you can guess finding new blocks was impossible. I thought i would just make my own but came upon carters website and to my surprise they actually had an upgrade kit for this saw ! It cost a little over 200 bucks but was worth every penny. Everything is precision made and installation was pretty simple except for the lower guides. The original slot the old guide bolted to wasn't long enough and i had to elongate it. Other than that minor modification it was a fairly easy install. The difference from the old guides to the new is fantastic. If you have an old saw in need of an upgrade check out carter guides. they make conversion kits for most every brand out there.

Very cool!

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

I have upgraded the guides on my SCM MM16 with the Carter's some some ago.
These were the first version and a bit fiddly to adjust, required allen keys. Far better than the original Euro guides which many love, but I never could get the hang of them.

Easy to set up for my 1" blade, plenty of meat behind the teeth to get the bearings riding smooth.
Still hate ever changing blades (reason I bought my 14" PM).
