If I ever get to build my dream shop, it will most certainly have a diy elevator/hoist lift in it. Stored in the ‘up’ position, it’s takes up no floor space, and give you a way to control ascent of those larger items. Pretty much just a 1000 lb winch and a platform with some guide rods. Totally non-OSHA approved.
