Wooden Rabbet Plane

Here's a rabbet plane I made out of Pine. It has an adjustable fence and depth stops. I made it to take my Stanley Sweetheart 1/2" chisel.  I made it out of Pine as a prototype test and it works so well that I wish I had made it out of hardwood. Oh well. If it wears I'll do some boxing on it.

Pine is fine. Like you said, depends on how it wears. Quite utilitarian using a chisel.
cool chisel rick.

working with my hands is a joy,it gives me a sense of fulfillment, somthing so many seek and so few find.-SAM MALOOF.

The chisel blade in the plane works awesome but I wouId rather not separate my chisel blade from my handle only to have to re-assemble.
However like I said it was a test. Now it gives me great pleasure to make another! 🙂
Nicely done. I like the integration of the fences!

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

Thanks Ryan. The fence and depth stops work well. I like them too. It's amazing how fast and smooth the plane makes a rabbet. Perfect 90° too.
For a prototype that sure looks sweet!
Yes it turned out well and it is sweet. 🙂
Nicely done, if you use it enough to wear it out, just make the next 1 out of hardwood and use an old plough plane iron or similar to save swapping the chisel out all the time.
