I have just finished drilling the pilot dog holes into the top boards that I have vises for. This will allow me to have a nice straight batch of dog holes started once the top is glued up by using the drill press when the top is still just a bunch of boards.
Well I have come to the point where I have to make a list of what needs to be done and when. Having only my own wits to go by as I am not following anyone else’s build plan, I put my engineering and project manager skills to use. If anyone notices a flaw in the plan please let me know.

The reason the dog holes are only 2 1/2" deep is that I only have a small table top drill press. Once constructed I will thru drill the holes the rest of the way. I tried to find a way of getting the holes all the way by flipping the boards over but this might lead to misaligned holes. Also, I will be adding holes to the legs on the sides to allow for waste to fall out and to remove the dogs where they are at the leg joint locations.

Too late now but I do dog holes (and longer holes in other pieces) by routing half holes in two boards clamped together, then gluing them up with a dowel or two in place to keep alignment.
As for the list, looks good but I really like the last step. :-)
The early bird gets the worm but its the second mouse that gets the cheese.
That’s a long list. I would have a shorter one so it goes much quicker…..-:)
I have no experience in bench building but I am sure you know what you are doing. A fine job in my opinion. I am getting a lot of ideas.

Your bench looks fantastic so far. It always helps to be well organized as you seem to be.
