drilling dowel with a forstner bit

I saw some methods of concentric drilling dowel,  ...just a distraction.
It looked like a challenge, so I tried
 1 drilled a 25mm hole in a stringer.

sawed a clamp relief to hold it from spinning out
Swapped out for a 22mm forstner
ensured it was still concentric.
And amazingly enough it worked

who would have believed it. ...now back to the Credenza!

Looks like a home made version of that tool you were looking for, something sure to be put up into the mental file cabinet!
Wow that’s really good Rob!
No reason that wouldn't work. Now I can make my own bronze bushings. I just repaired a gate hinge by clamping the loop for the hinge pin in my vice. If I welded that loop, I could put in a bronze bushing and never have to oil it again.

I’ll have to add that to the memory bank thank you Rob.

One of these sets of dowel colletes would do the trick,

with an appropriate forstner/drill bit mounted in a Jacobs at the tailstock,

If your first cut is too short... Take the second cut from the longer end... LBD

Oh yes LBD,  colletes are they female versions of  collets
They sure look impressive
Now that you have inspired me, I do actually have a Boring Machine, I will have t drag it out dust it off and see how big a dowel I can chuck in it
