This is part 2 in a 5 part series: Old Store Counter

  1. Say What?
  2. A Plan and a Start
  3. Design Constraints
...
  1. Completion!

Here’s what I’m after. And it’s the extent of a detailed plan.

Here’s the inspiration piece.

Started cutting up a sheet of 1/2 plywood that I had on-hand, and made some simple 2x2 frames to mount the panels to. These surfaces will be the ‘recessed’ panels of each finished side of the piece.

Kinda like this?

Next, add some surface 3/4” material to define the recesses.

You use the same version of sketch up as me. Looks like you’re off to a good start
lol-yeah same here !

working with my hands is a joy,it gives me a sense of fulfillment, somthing so many seek and so few find.-SAM MALOOF.

Great detailed drawing, I can understand those. That is the way I do it on the bigger stuff or when I need to watch the cuts for the material.

Main Street to the Mountains

The drawing set the height of the cash register display in context of the main countertop. And the ‘secure side’ of the main counter body must have a shelf that serves as a footrest when sitting behind said counter. This is a must have, along with close integration of the vintage register.

Dwg does that. Let’s see if I can follow the drawing. ;-)
