A lot of people seem to have trouble getting the roll of sandpaper holding on their drumsander and start contemplating turning to the dark side of hook and loop conversion.
Before you bite the bullet, try the following first. Ensure the paper is wrapped tightly on the drum. The paper doesn't have to abut between turns/wraps.
To stop the end from slipping out, bend it over itself before you manouver it into the tensioning clip.
The sandpaper face on both sides inhibits slip
Seat it fully down the tension clip.
If your first cut is too short... Take the second cut from the longer end... LBD
I (unfortunately) use my 10/20 Jet so seldom that I usually forget how to wrap the paper between uses. I've cleared out some space and will be getting back to wood working and carving soon.
I have a drum sander and enjoy using it, apart from the accept of having to be a pseudo prostrate examiner to get the sandpaper started, there has got to be a better way,... but in honesty it works and it works well in its role. The velcro introduction is a solution but not for me, so...stop wiggling around and hold the cup almost finished!
Good idea, I will give it a try. I could use some special pliers or something to grab the spring as I have a problem getting my fingers at the clamp thing that you properly call the tension clip.

an I bought mine 2nd hand so Its still just fingers for me I have to say I have spent more on consumables than the initial purchase price, but its all good.
