I just signed up to learn about making wooden threads for a vise project and this comment box appeared. Is this supposed to be my bio or is this comment going to show up in a forum somewhere? No clues are offered so here goes ...

welcome my friend. this is your home page where other members can make comments to you. you could do a bio here but if you click on forums towards the bottom you will see (introduce yourself), also upper right corner click on your avatar and go on edit my profile and settings. thats where i have my bio. once you get used to things this forum is very easy to navigate.

also to get the info your looking for on the same list as, edit profile you can click on, new forum topic and ask the questions you want and im sure someone will have the answers. we have some incredibly talented people here.

Thank you, Pottz, for the welcome message. I posted in the "Introduce yourself" forum a day or two ago but it hasn't appeared there yet. Do you think the post is still awaiting approval or maybe it won't appear because of links I added to vise parts and vises I'm looking at?

there is a waiting period just to keep spammers out. if you can post a project, that also helps showing your a real woodworker. martin the owner and only mod we have isn't on everyday so it can take a few days for him to see it. your gonna love the freedom here, totally unlike places like lj's that have cops checking everything you say. we dont get a lot of beginners here, mostly intermediate to very advanced. but dont be shy most are quite willing to share their knowledge.
