Question for you all. I'm starting a bunk bed project. I need long, wide, and flat boards for the rails. I don't have a jointer so it's tough working with something that's not close to flat to start with. This is one of the boards that qualifies, but I found some surface checking. Would you pass on this one?
It doesn't look like anything too serious. Checking happens during the drying process and once the wood is properly dried, it's a stable defect. If it doesn't bother you, use it. Keep it away from the edges and it shouldn't cause any issues.

Ok thanks guys. These weren't there when I got the wood, but it has been in my garage for a year and they popped up since then. I'm assuming they're pretty well acclimatized by now.
