Thanks to a tutorial tip by LittleBlackDuck, I thought it would be great to focus on a post tag/keyword:  beginner

beginner tips

We sometimes forget that there are people who want to start woodworking and have never had a mentor, teacher, support, to pass on any of the woodworking tips to help them get started.

I recently heard/watched/read (I forget) a carpenter saying that one of his videos went viral. The video? How to hammer a nail into the wall.

As people ache to get their lives and homes  more steady (plug for our sister site Homesteadian.com) they/we want to learn the hands-on skills of our grandparents.

And that means that those who know can teach what they have learned and help the beginners move forward.

You never know, you may be teaching the next Maloof how to hold a hand plane.

beginner woodworkers

It is ok not to know.
It is ok to ask questions.
It is ok to seek help.
Everyone was at the “not knowing” stage at one point.

When you see the tag/keyword: beginner

  • If it is a tip: don’t scoff - support, validate, enhance, thank
  • If it a beginner woodworker - support, validate, teach, mentor, congratulate

Let’s make the tag/keyword “beginner” a key element of Craftisian.com!

One of the fun things is to watch beginners build their skills.
Hey, I'm still learning skills. But I can help folks too by passing on what I do know, wither it be a tip or a process. Always willing to help someone learn.

Main Street to the Mountains

Great idea and much appreciated as one of those needing the help and advice.  Here to soak in all the information on design, technique, etc.  Thanks to all who share the details of projects!
That is why we are here Barb, to make friends and help each other. And sometimes rib each other with loving fun.

Main Street to the Mountains

Beginners are great teachers because they haven’t reached the “taking for granted” Steve - all the lessons are fresh on their minds!!

So BEGINNERS

Share your journey
  1. Your journey (with challenges, mistakes, learning curve) will help someone else
  2. When you look back at this a year from now, you will smile at your progress!!

Yes! This is wonderful. We will only get new woodworkers if we are willing to help people learn. Im most definitely still in the learning process and always appreciate help from others who are more experienced.
