We are fast approaching December and the holiday season … and people will be searching for crafted HOLIDAY DECOR & GIFTS
I would love to see the projects section get dotted with your holiday creations.

Hmm. I’ve got two things in the works, but one is shop furniture, and one probably won’t make it by Christmas because I’m a slacker.

But don’t go painting a snowman if you made it out of walnut. I never loved that down, over at LJ. I’m still traumatized by it hahaha :)

Opposite side - I like poplar and most people say its only good to be painted! Good thing we all like different things to keep things interesting. 🙂

Rules are so important …. Because then you can break them with intention - and that is where the artistry happens

Walnut and paint should never meet! 😳
Agreed, leave the latex for the cherry and don't use common nails, the square head masonry nails look more rustic and the resulting splits along the grain add instant character (woodworking tip #1) 8^)
One of my more popular holiday sales items are the magnetic bottle openers. I'll add an old project post on these
The opener attaches to the fridge door with magnets and also capture the caps so they don't fall onto the floor and get stepped on during a barefoot midnight food raid.

Lately I have been bleaching walnut. That's not quite as bad. but....
Figuring out how to do something you have never done is what makes a good challenge.

Lately I have been bleaching walnut. That's not quite as bad. but....
my supplier sells bleached walnut.he says some like it because the color is more even. heck i like walnut with sap wood just because of the contrast. i know what you do some of the projects just require it.
