Sometimes all it takes is a small push

Yes, sometimes all it takes is just a small push. My favorite font called Roboto has been updated a few days ago, on January 14, 2015. It was used as the main font on WoodworkingWeb since the beginning.

And the change was for worse. I immediately noticed it and it just didn’t look right. So, the perfectionist in me decided that it was time for a late Sunday coffee, a strong one, maybe two. And I started the process of testing, tweaking, testing again, comparing… I’m sure it’s similar to finding that perfect combination of woods and grains for your next creation. Time just flies and it feels like going in circles.

Two hours after midnight I finally made up my mind. Combination of Open Sans Condensed for titles&buttons and Open Sans for the main text looked just right to my tired eyes. The titles looked classy and the content is much more legible now, thanks to non-condensed version of the same font.

I didn’t waste momentum on Sunday and spent some time polishing many related design thingies that have been pushed to the bottom of our long to-do list in the past weeks.

This was just a short essay on how even a small and unexpected change can make our creations better with the right attitude. Let’s keep this positive attitude in 2015!

Hope you like the updated look as I do :)

We appreciate all that you do to make this great site. Excellent job by the way. This is by far the easiest place to add creations, forums, and blogs. Way to go man. Like a great woodworking piece, it’s the attention to details that set this site apart. The site just flows, and looks so much better than any other out there.

Now that you mentioned it…I was too focused on all the new projects, I missed it.
Let’s keep it up!
If I could see my history, it would be great.
