I picked up this Fulton 14" plane Saturday because lately I've taken a shine to Sargent planes. The wood is not broken and in pretty good shape, it's complete, and going by the 409 414 numbers on the back of the lever cap and the lateral adjuster I think it's a pretty safe bet that this plane was made by Sargent. Also, I've never seen the Fulton name in a raised position on the base behind the knob like that. This Fulton seems like it will make a very solid user, and will show up in the Before & After thread soon.
Oldtool - Thank You - I'd say it could at that but with a nice clean up, I wouldn't mind the sharpening process as much. Probably going to hang onto this one so as soon as I complete my sandblasting cabinet mod I'll give it the full monty!
I'd bet that winds up being on if your favorite users. A few more pictures (frog seat and knob profile) along with if it's mahogany or rosewood furniture (looks like it might be mahogany) and we can take a guess at age.

Well, the blade was sharpened at 30* so I just left it at that and put a quick edge on it and tried it out on some ash. I can see when this plane started singing it was a keeper and worth giving it the full treatment. Not too long ago I let a 407 slip through my fingers, that won't happen again......
I’d like a Fulton 3708…..I have a nice Sargent trifecta of 407, 408, and 409 although they aren’t the VBM’s they are clean, solid and original. I dropped out of an auction at $80 for a 410 which would have been nice to add to them. It sold for $89 which is low for today’s prices, but I’m used to prices in the old days!
Edit: Oh, I see my mistake up above I meant a 407 sized Fulton! But thank you for letting me know you have some 407’s for sale.
