re: Teak Wood

Years ago kept a sailboat in  saltwater slip in Fl.    All exterior wood was teak.   Vaguely remember cleaning and oiling the teak.   Made it look.good for a few months, then do it again.   
If I remember teak has some grit (sand?) in it making it abrasive to saw blades and other tools.    Only made a very few replacement parts to deck hardware mounts and such.  Not much help to your query.
