Blast from the past

I was moving crap around and set these 2 scraps off to the side.

I put the bowl back on the lathe and just got the inside and outside clean and smooth. The rim warped into a floral shape that I like. I left it as is.  I found out that I really did it wrong when I rough turned this bowl, back in 2010. I drilled too deep with a Forstner.

No cracks, this bowl sounds good.

This is the first time I have left a tenon on the bottom, as a foot. I'm not done with this yet, but I'll give it 15 seconds of fame to see what happens. There's a little thickness left. Very.

The bottom looks worse than it is. With money in it, this will be a beautiful bowl.

There's a bunch of crazyass grain that wants to explode. All I have on it now is wax.

Red mulberry. I harvested a big limb from a storm damaged tree in Union,Ky. in spring 2010.

I'm probly going to let you down but, I swear I won't keep you down. John Hiatt

It glows!

like the grain, lots of early/late ring color variation. The wiggle adds character.
Cool! Love that grain too.

I like the look. The grain gives a real feeling of movement.
Looks great! The tenon works - kinda like a floating base...
