I’ll have to get a pic, but I was able to get a shaving or two off some knotty oak that I could read a book through. The plane is a fifties era Record no. 4 that I found in the rusty bucket at the tools refurb shop I volunteer at. It was headed for scrap because of chips in the top of the body. It’s brilliant and I love it.

OK I apologize. This one’s from a chisel …… but it is pretty.

Paul, replacing your shavings with silk is cheating. ;-)

These shaving are impressive Paul. If I am not mistaken they came out of Shipwright made plane:)

some of my first shavings were messy but colorful.

This second batch was painfull:

The third batch was just the last weekend. I had finally gotten some free time to spend in the shop.
Sweet shavings out of a Veritas shoulder/dado plane. I had wanted one for over 5 years now. I finally purchased it. Great out of the box. Love it.
I made fine shavings and thick shavings. It just cut through.

It cleaned up the tongues pretty well too.

For some reason I see a dog in the last picture:

You are right Abbas. Here’s the first one backed away a bit.

And one more for fun.

Thanks Martin. Did you notice that half of the pencil line is on the shaving?
