Finish for maple?

I made my wife a picture frame for Valentine’s day. We’re going out of town so no flowers can be delivered. I’m going to put a picture of us and the baby in it.

Anyway, it’s made of some kind of maple and I never worked with it before. I have no idea what to finish it with. I wiped on my old standby, danish oil, onto a scrap cutoff. It looks nice but it turns a little darker than I’d like.

Anybody know what a good finish would be? I must be able to buy it from home depot and it cannot be sprayed (unless it comes in a rattle can). I’d like a nice clear satin-y finish.

Id clear it with just rattle can laquare keeping it all natural. Two coats. Ive always used Deft but any quality laquare will work. I always spray picture frames Satin.
