You will use it soon enough:)
A planer is a great tool to have.

Do you have a dust collector and a jointer?

That’s great! He/she that dies with the most tools wins, is my motto!

Funny thing, I just bought a new Rigid table saw from Home Depot today as well!

Planers are a nearly indispensable tool. The only thing is finding a place to store it. Build yourself one of those flip top jobs for it.

No dust collector or a joiner yet. Thorreain, i like your motto! Brian, i need to build a little cart for my bandsaw and drill press, I might put this below since i wont use very often. Not too sure yet. I might run a board thru it today just for fun.

Congrats on your new planer. Even though you don’t have jointer, you can make a sled that will allow you to plane a boar or plank on both sides and to get an even thickness. If you search the web for planing sleds you will probable find a lot of them. If you subscribe to Fine Woodworking website you can search for one there as they had an article on one some years ago.

If you are going to try it out make sure it’s bolted or clamped down…..

Have a DeWalt planer, and it is SO handy. I keep it on top of a Harbor Freight roll-around tool cart. The tool cart is made of four angle legs and two “trays”. I installed the top one upside down, so I had a flat surface. The planer and my belt/disk sander stay on the cart, against the wall, until I need them. You might be able to see what I’m talking about, in the photo.

Happy Wooding!!

Thats a good idea, but i went dumpster diving this weekend and a few new home jobsites and found the wood to make a cart. I plan on putting it below on the tray as i dont think it will get much use. But that is clever Shin.

dont be to sure. once you realize its usefulness it will be used n nearly every project.

Not a bad idea, putting the planer on the bottom shelf of the cart, other than stooping over to read the depth gauge, although, you can set the initial depth by “feel,” and if you know how much a quarter turn of the depth knob takes, work it down, checking progress with sliding calipers.
