I have about a dozen calking guns, they all suck in one way or another. Those stamped steel nightmares are about the worst, but they are cheap.
Best I've found so far has a cast handle unit and you can see the brass bushings used to lock the shaft as it plunges.
Better, but still has issues.
I learned that for sheathing where the LNs is used along each joist/rafter, a battery operated one would be a blessing.
