Mobile Kitchen Island

I built this Island for my Daughter out of Red Oak. The top is about 3” thick glued and bound with three ¼” tension rods with washers and nuts on each end; I used a Fosterer bit to give the washers a flat surface to rest on and plugged the holes after the tension was applied. There has been no bucking, warping or separation at all. Dovetailed the drawers and used full extension slides’ the unit is mounted on none marring, locking casters for smooth mobility and remains stationary when in lock position. The top is finished in a food grade Mineral oil. The cutting board on top is of the same construction and finish.

Great piece, my next project is a kitchen island after I build my Irish Wolfhound a dog house.

Love it!

Awesome. Well done. I need a larger, non-mobile version of this in our kitchen project.

Thank you all for your kind words. PMI go for it just make it taller and leave the casters off.
