Barn Wood Countertops

I needed to create a wood detail for a quilt shop in Nebraska and after I finished with all the trim I had a pile of scrap barn wood left over. Instead of using formical for all the countertops I decided to cut the wood pile down to 21/2" strips and make butcher block style countertops with a angle iron frame. Once they are installed I will finish them with a bar top clear coat to make them smooth and detail the distressed look of the wood.

Now that’s a unique counter top.

Very nice for the shop owner, for sure. I’m sure they will appreciate the extra effort.

This should look great and genuine. I hope you post it with the finish on it when you get done.

I’d love to see the finished top. It will be interesting to see what pops with the clear coat on it!
