Tortilla Press
Walnut & Hickory, 8" square. I built this with my daughter on a visit to Oregon and ended up making several for her friends once I got back home. Each platen is two 3/4" layers of wood laminated together at 90 degrees. Later ones were two 3/8" layers and seemed to be just as strong.
I measured it twice, cut it twice, and it is still too short!
