fence picket stars

This is a honeydo project dreamed up by my wife. Last week I put up a new stockade fence in the back yard to replace the rotten one that was there. The garbage finally got picked up this morning but I saved a few pickets to make these. They’re very simple. Just cut the slats to a point and screw them to a plywood circle. For the large one on the fence I made a sled and cut the mitre at 18° on one side only. 20 pieces. The smaller one also has 20 pieces but 10 are screwed to the front of the circle and 10 on the back, giving it some depth. I hung a clock on the one that goes inside. It’s in my sun room.

You’re probably wondering about the fence too. We mixed paint with outdoor sealant to brighten it up. It’s funky but pretty cool. If the stupid rain stops I’ll get some tomatoes planted in front of that fence tomorrow. Fingers crossed.

Its good to be cool! I absolutely love the
Fence…and the clocks are way cool as well! Tell your wife she has beautiful dreams! Lol, I know what you mean about the rain, our tornado warning just expired
Hear in central Minnesota torrential rains now… Your photos just brightened up our night! (I had to show my wife!)
Thanks Brian!

Brian, that’s a pretty cool idea for old fence pickets.
I like the clock & the party fence.

Thanks. I think the fence will look even better in a couple years as the paint fades from being in the sun.

I should have kept more slats. I think these might be easy sellers. They only take a couple of hours to make. I first made very nice plywood circles with my circle jig because I thought one might end up on the front but ultimately didn’t. So I just cut the circle for the second one with the jigsaw since I knew that one would be hidden. That was a time saver since I had no setup time involved.

Anyway, wife is happy. Happy wife, happy life.

Anytime you reuse, repurpose, or recycle, everyone wins.

Love it Brian. Looks like a really nice area to relax with calming colors.

Yeah, major yard weekend actually. Made a place for my wee one, planted a vegetable garden under that star and a general cleanup. Now that it’s dark and can’t see all my hard labor, I can finally relax. ;-)

It looks awesome! We also love being creative and colorful. The fun part is how stimulating and personal it is…
