Idea for more projects to view, methods to learn from. ( I think )

Recently I viewed a project by "hairy" called Chum Bucket. I thought this project was a quite unusual but an interesting project. I liked it, so I went to his profile page to access and view his past projects. I found all his projects amusing and they gave me some ideas for my future work.

This then gave me an idea I'd like to float here for others to comment on, make suggestions, and/or criticize. I think most of the members here have posted different  projects elsewhere as well, recently or past, and access to these could be helpful to some. In order to provide access or web location, members here could post a picture of a past work - with a link to the original post ( if it is still on the web of course )

I'm not sure how or where to post such information, one new project that has the list, or each create a blog with projects and links listed, or maybe put a link on each new project saying: For past work follow this link., etc.

I'm curious to see how this idea is received by others here. Speak your mind, I have a hard shell so you can't hurt me or my feelings.

For any feedback - Thank you.
Tom

Nice idea.   Would not work.for me as I deleted everything before I resigned from previous site.   Nothing to refer to.

I’ve read your story several times, but to be honest, I’m not quite sure what your question or intention is. At first, I thought you wanted support regarding the things that made by "hairy," but that’s not it. Or perhaps you mean that it’s nice when things are easy to find? Whatever it is, I find it difficult to interpret. That said, in the interest of honesty, I should mention that English isn't my native language.

And why not a link to Hairy and Chum Bucket, so that it becomes clear what that is about.

I think I’d prefer to encourage members to copy older projects (or blogs) from other sites to Craftisian. Doing so adds content here instead  of directing traffic away to other sites.

In my case, I’ve moved almost everything here. Moving the few remaining things is still on my to-do list.
I agree with that. Things "over there" are near impossible to find unless you know exactly what you are looking for.
Having the good stuff here with good key wording would be a bonus. I'm sure this sites project count would not mind the boost.
OK, now that I've  read the comments of Ron and Mr. Splinter, I'm 100% in agreement, that everything should remain here. I'll not broach that subject ever again. And as the saying goes: hindsight is always 20 / 20.

Dutchy, you aren't the first or only person that I've confused with my thinking, in fact, my wife just looked at me last evening and rolled her head and walked away. I get that a lot.

Just to clarify what I attempted to convey with my dribble, I tried to make a couple points, like this;
1.  I found the Chum Bucket by hairy very interesting, or in other words - pretty neat.
2.  Because he posted this project I was interested in seeing his other projects, which I also found to be pretty neat. If fact, I am going to steal some of them & make some for my grandchildren.
3.  That then gave me the idea that his projects and many other member's projects that might help me or others here, and it would be nice to see them.  As a side note, I subscribed to hairy for his future posts.

So, I'm in agreement with Ron and SplinterGroup, keep all here. To that end, I have a jig I made and posted elsewhere, that I use almost every time I'm in the shop, and I know that it will benefit others. I started to post it here, can type the description, but can't figure out how to bring over the photos. I'm computer functionally illiterate and I'll need to wait until my grandson visits and helps with that.

Thanks for the comments, much appreciated. It seems my mind can only properly function in hindsight.

Tom,

If you’re using Windows, you can right-click an image in a web browser and save it to your local disk. On an iPhone/iPad, you can press and hold to do the same thing. If your post has many images, that can get tedious. On Windows, there should be a command in the browser’s File menu that saves an entire web page, including its images, locally. If you use that command, you can just collect the saved images afterward.

If it takes your grandson too long to visit, I can help you move your jig project over, sending you step-by-step instructions. I seem to remember someone (or several someones) posting such instructions here.  Maybe it was LittleBlackDuck.  I can’t seem to find them at the moment. I’ll look more and reply here if I find them.
