This is a blog on how i made this project
 
These days my shop is cold. Really cold. It is open on one side and it has been about -5 degrees C outside for a while now. I can only be out there for shorter durations of time and wearing thick layers of clothing.
 

 But it has been quite a while since i made my last project and i really had a need to get in my shop and tinker a bit. What to make that is not too big a project and that improves beeing inside? Something about music perhaps..?
 
 I have had these old loudspeakers for several years. They have a built in amplifier and sounds great but mdf and vinyl cowering… No!
 

 Started to rip them apart to get to the loudspeakers and the electronics
 

 Then on to the drawing board after a little searching around for inspiration
 

 
 The wood rack revealed this oak bottom of a door frame taken from a 120 year old house. Perfect!
 

 
 A little sawing and planing makes a great difference
 

 A test of the genneral shape and the fit of the boards
 

 Grooves are cut for the end boards
 

 Fitting the loudspeakers
 

 Vinegar+steel wool for color like in this project and then 4 layers of BLO
 

 
Made some buttons out of beech. They got glued to the existing buttons in order to fit the electronics. Made some feet as well
 

 
Fitting the electronics. Note to self: Solder wires BEFORE mounting the parts. My hands are way too large to fit inside the cabinet together with a hot soldering iron..
 

Last part was gluing on some strips to make room for the screws for the back panel
 

Think it turmed out quite nice.
