My next project is going to be a Murphy Bed! I found a pretty easy set of plans in “Handy Man Magazine” but the article says to plan on spending $1,600 on materials.
Has anybody seen a set of plans that would be significantly cheaper?
Thanks for any input.
1600 sounds a bit high. Maybe they built it out of some exotic hardwood that was milled by enchanted mice. The hardware from Rockler is around $300 bucks, a few sheets of mdf and some trim wood…
maybe they included the matress made of unicorn down?
I’m sure you could do it for less.

Few years ago I bought a murphy bed kit from rockler for $299.
That is plan, construction video and all the required hardware.
It appear to be on sale now :

What a small world. I was going to say the same thing, exactly, or pretty close, with, maybe, a change to the sentences and the words.
I see kits all over for around three hundred. Add a little plywood, hardwood and finish materials and it should be around six, if you are going through a wood outlet. Of course, you can add a couple hundred or a thousand for a mattress.
