Thewoodguy, segmenting is not as difficult as marquetry. It is straight forward, cut the piece out, 90°, no bevel, paint it and put it back in. I have the greatest respect for marquetry, to me, the ultimate artistic wood working. Segmenting is more simple and mechanical. I hope to do marquetry when I grow up! I guess you could say segmenting is the poor mans marquetry.
