Thanks. I wasn’t originally working with the plywood, that became plan B and I think it would’ve been a lot easier if it had been planning A. By the time I’d got to plan B the sketches had gone out the window and it was a discussion with my nan using a my notebook and some table mats to explain what she thought I should do. I thenjoy went and watche’d a videos on YouTube repeatedly until I got it into my head.
I agree that it was good to stick with it and complete the project, and I have learnt a lot from it, but I shall be going back to the carving and pyrography as I feel that is something I can make with a good finish. Woodwork in general is not my fortè and I won’t take on any jobs like this again until I feel confident enough to do a good job. I do plan to spend a little time each week improving my skills and practicing so that I can learn the basics and make gifts for my family
